Since my husband made the decision to sell his Key West boat, we purchased these babies – pedal Hobie Kayaks. I mean, we live in Florida – why not? But many will ask why we got rid of the boat, too. We enjoyed the convenience of having a boat, but it was also a lot of maintenance and work to actually use it. Plus, there were only so many places you could reach by boat, such as our recent Florida kayak adventure through The Little Big Econ River.
With our kayaks, we can explore the nooks and crannies Florida waters have to offer – with the use of foot pedals, which makes it so much easier for fishing. And we’re loving it. Hence why I felt the need to document our recent kayak adventures close to home – the Little Big Econ River. Now, if you’re traveling to Florida, such as for Disney – adventures like this are not much out of your way!
There are so many places for kayaking in the central Florida area – you’re bound to be overwhelmed. First off, it’s something you should definitely have on your list to do, and second – I’m about to make the narrowing down of where much easier for you as a Florida-born native.

Need a little convincing? Here is a short video of our recent adventures kayaking through The Little Big Econ River, an approximate 8 mile cruise downstream. The water was a little low that day, but it didn’t stop us. The water was clear enough to see fish and other wildlife such as Gar, Bass, Mullet, Birds, and of course Gator. Lots of gator. We noted about 8-10 along the banks in one of many of our kayak adventures.
