So my baby turned 8 this past weekend. And I know what some of you might be thinking – that’s right, I freakin’ celebrated my dog’s birthday. And I made him cupcakes. Made with less than 7 all-natural ingredients – it’s a guilt and peanut butter free treat to give your furBABY on their birthday, or just because you love them. #dogmomlife
The serving size for this recipe makes quite a few, and unless you have 4-5 pooches, you’re not inclined to feed your dog too many of these – obvs. So you can either freeze them, or they make the perfect treat gift to give your dog mom friends – just make sure they don’t have any allergies!

Also, these cupcakes were curated for imagery purposes. You need to consider your dog’s weight to the size of your cupcakes. For my 16 pound dog, I only gave him HALF a cupcake (which equated to about 1 oz.). You should also limit to 1-2 tbsp of icing PER CUPCAKE depending on your dog’s weight.

Equipment
- Cupcake liners
- Cupcake baking tray
Ingredients
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 Apple The sweeter the better (honey crisp, gala or red delicious)
- 1/2 Yellow squash Or you can use acorn or butternut squash
- 1 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1 Egg
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1 tbsp Water
Ingredients for cupcake frosting
- 3 tbsp Coconut milk powder
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
- 2 tbsp Stella and Chewy's Magical Dinner Dust *Optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- In your processor, first ground up the Oats into a fine powder. If you do not have a processor, or want to do without this step that is fine, too. Place remaining contents in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the baking powder.
- Next, process the apple and yellow squash finely. If you need to add a small amount of water you can do that – about 1 tbsp should do. You could also grate these – that would work similarly. Make sure you cut out the apple core and seeds! Then add to the large mixing bowl.
- Add the egg and 1 tbsp of coconut oil. Olive, or any related oil works, too.
- Mix together until everything is fully incorporated.Â
- Line baking rack with baking cups, filling each slightly more than half way (these won't rise too much in the oven). This should give you a solid 6 cupcakes.
- Bake for roughly 13-15 minutes. Allow to cool before serving or adding pup-approved "icing" (recipe below).
