In need of a quick, simple dessert without all the hassle of making an entire dish for 10+? I got you with this caramel apple dump cake, but you’re going to need ramekins. It’s a purchase you won’t regret if you’re big on making single-serving or recipes for two.
This recipe is the perfect fall treat, but honestly you can eat it any time of year! It’s similar to a dump cake, which means there’s zero frills and perfection behind it. It’s like an apple pie minus the work but it will certainly satisfy every sweet tooth craving.

A forewarning for this recipe, and among most ramekin recipes: everyone’s ovens work differently, so temperature and bake time will vary. As for ingredient variations: I haven’t tried substitutions, but I am sure they will work just fine – you just have to be willing to experiment!

A dessert for two: ramekin caramel apple dump cake
Caramel Apple Dump Cake For Two
Equipment
- Ramekins [2]
Ingredients
Ingredients for apple filling
- 2 large apples (granny smith, mcintosh or honey crisp apples are best)
- 1 whole lemon (or 4 tbsp lemon juice)
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
Ingredients for dump cake
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp chopped walnuts
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp milk (plant-based works, too)
- 1 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil (or coconut oil)
- 1 tbsp warm coffee (completely optional)
Dump Cake Garnish/Topping
- caramel (sauce)
- whipped cream
- ice cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F and butter your ramekins.
- Wash, peel and chop apples into small chunks and place in a small bowl with lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar (refer to the apple filling ingredient amounts). Stir to combine.
- Half the apple filling mixture into each ramekin and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, add in the wet and dry [dump cake] ingredients (refer to the dump cake ingredient amounts), including the chopped walnuts.Â
- Pour contents into each ramekin over top the apples. Drizzle caramel on top of the mixture before placing ramekins on a baking dish (for even baking) to bake for 20-25 minutes.**IMPORTANT: everyone's ovens are different, and depending on what size ramekin you use (or if you used a different baking dish), baking times and optimal temperature for this dish can vary. Because of this, personally, I follow the 350 for 25-30 minutes for every ~1.5 inch depth rule (so if your cake sits 1.5-inch thick in the pan).
- Once cooled, top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, more caramel, and chopped walnuts. Enjoy!
