In the morning I drink water, because it’s healthy… warmed up and poured over coffee grounds… into a pretty mug.
Coffee. I drink coffee.
And oddly enough it’s not about having that magic potion to keep me from turning into a zombie, or faking 10 much needed hours of sleep. It’s the few moments of pure bliss, often before the world awakens or as the sun peers over the horizon, with just me, myself and I.
Okkk… and my dogs included, as one is clawing at my legs and the other smiling obnoxiously to be fed. Don’t they understand, “But first, coffee“?
Seriously, though. You know how they say some of the best ideas or moments of revelation are conspired in the shower? It’s like that – complete clarity. Except, for me, it starts at the smell of freshly brewed coffee and taking that first sip of my morning cup with Coffee mate® natural bliss® Plant Based Half & Half Vanilla.
I don’t know about you, but I like my coffee simple. I’m a no frills or bells and whistles kind of gal. So forget the extra sugar, caramel drizzle or whipped cream. I may not be basic when it comes to my alleged bean water concoction, but I do enjoy a little zing of sweetness in the morning, if you know what I mean. In fact, the Coffee mate® natural bliss® Plant Based Half & Half Vanilla has only 2g of sugar per serving, while Coffee mate® natural bliss® Plant Based Half & Half Unsweetened has (brace yourselves)…. ZERO.
Either way I don’t have to justify having another cup… or two, or three. [insert happy dance] I just add in a few eyeballing seconds worth until it’s the perfect caramel color, but who actually measures anyway?
The best part is you’re not compromising taste with this premier plant-based half and half product. Might I add it also contains less sugar. It’s all natural, gluten free and non GMO. Hey-yo! Made with a blend of almond milk and coconut cream, you can tell when you make that first pour into your coffee there’s just the right amount of creamy texture.
It’s that “Ooh-Ahh” moment every time. While I try to get my act together in the morning, I usually end up procaffeinating (n.) – the tendency to not start anything until having a cup of coffee.
Yep, #themorningstruggle.
When I finally get to sit down, relax and have that first cup all is quiet upstairs. OK maybe quiet isn’t the right word. Let’s just say Anxious Alexa, Over-analytical Olivia, Logical Lucy and Free-spirited Frances wind down and come together for our ritual morning meeting. It sounds silly but my morning coffee has become somewhat of a sanctuary for me. It’s not only the time for moments of clarity and some of the best ideas for my blog, but also reflecting on my sense of self. This being the person I am, who I am not and who I want to be. I am reminded of my accomplishments (big and small) and failures (which are lessons, not endpoints), moments of strength and my undeniable weaknesses.
This has become a major part of my self care routine, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Coffee is my self-therapy to embracing who I am and always striving to improve. For you this may be yoga, hiking, reading, writing or underwater basket weaving. No matter, you can still enjoy a really good cup of coffee while in your zen!
So share with me! What does your morning cup mean to you? I purchased all of the available flavors from my local Walmart because, well, coffee is life. Plus I can conveniently get what I need when I shop at Walmart, and you can find the Coffee mate® natural bliss® Plant Based Half & Half Vanilla in the refrigerated creamer section.
